Time evolution of non-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems

چکیده
We provide time-evolution operators, gauge transformations and a perturbative treatment for non-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems, which are explicitly timedependent. We determine various new equivalence pairs for Hermitian and non-Hermitian Hamiltonians, which are therefore pseudo-Hermitian and in addition in some cases also invariant under PT-symmetry. In particular, for the harmonic oscillator perturbed by a cubic non-Hermitian term, we evaluate explicitly various transition amplitudes, for the situation when these systems are exposed to a monochromatic linearly polarized electric field.

Non-Hermitian Quantum Systems and Time-Optimal Quantum Evolution
Recently, Bender et al. have considered the quantum brachistochrone problem for the non-Hermitian PT -symmetric quantum system and have shown that the optimal time evolution required to transform a given initial state |ψi〉 into a specific final state |ψf 〉 can be made arbitrarily small. Additionally, it has been shown that finding the shortest possible time requires only the solution of the two...
متن کاملA Possible Method for Non-Hermitian and Non-PT-Symmetric Hamiltonian Systems
A possible method to investigate non-Hermitian Hamiltonians is suggested through finding a Hermitian operator η+ and defining the annihilation and creation operators to be η+ -pseudo-Hermitian adjoint to each other. The operator η+ represents the η+ -pseudo-Hermiticity of Hamiltonians. As an example, a non-Hermitian and non-PT-symmetric Hamiltonian with imaginary linear coordinate and linear mo...
متن کاملAn iterative method for the Hermitian-generalized Hamiltonian solutions to the inverse problem AX=B with a submatrix constraint
In this paper, an iterative method is proposed for solving the matrix inverse problem $AX=B$ for Hermitian-generalized Hamiltonian matrices with a submatrix constraint. By this iterative method, for any initial matrix $A_0$, a solution $A^*$ can be obtained in finite iteration steps in the absence of roundoff errors, and the solution with least norm can be obtained by choosing a special kind of...
متن کاملIs PT -symmetric quantum mechanics just quantum mechanics in a non-orthogonal basis?
One of the postulates of quantum mechanics is that the Hamiltonian is Hermitian, as this guarantees that the eigenvalues are real. Recently there has been an interest in asking if H = H is a necessary condition, and has lead to the development of PT -symmetric quantum mechanics. This note shows that any finite physically acceptable non-Hermitian Hamiltonian is equivalent to doing ordinary quant...
متن کاملQuantum phase transition in a pseudo-Hermitian Dicke model.
We show that a Dicke-type non-Hermitian Hamiltonian admits entirely real spectra by mapping it to the "dressed Dicke model" through a similarity transformation. We find a positive-definite metric in the Hilbert space of the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian so that the time evolution is unitary and allows a consistent quantum description. We then show that this non-Hermitian Hamiltonian describing nond...
